Be a Holiday Hero: Bringing Comfort, Cheer, and a Little Magic to Local Families
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton, in partnership with A-Tech Roofing Ltd., is once again launching the Holiday Heroes Program, a community effort that helps families in our mentoring programs manage the added pressures of the holiday season.
Each year, many parents we support face increased financial strain during this time.
When schools close for two weeks, children lose access to daily food supports, and families must stretch already limited budgets to cover extra meals, snacks, and seasonal costs.
Through the Holiday Heroes Program, families receive modest gift cards for groceries and gifts. It is a small gesture that brings relief, comfort, and a reminder that our community cares.
“These aren’t extravagant gifts,” says Joline Cyr, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Moncton. “They’re simple acts of care that help parents manage and remind them that they’re not alone.”
Each request for support is reviewed carefully by the BBBSGM team. Because we maintain trusted relationships with every family in our programs, we’re often able to see where a little help can make the greatest difference. The program is managed thoughtfully to fill gaps that arise in special circumstances, always with respect, fairness, and dignity.
“Because we work so closely with our families, we often have unique insights into who may be struggling most,” Cyr adds. “That’s what makes this program special. It’s rooted in trust and genuine connection.”
Together, we can bring Seasonal Comforts, Family Cheer, and a touch of Holiday Magic to local families while strengthening the Circle of Care that supports them all year long.
Options for Everyone
- $50 – Simple Joys: Help provide small comforts that ease the strain of the season like a cozy treat, warm essentials, or a thoughtful gesture that reminds a family they’re cared for.
- $100 – Seasonal Comforts: Help fill cupboards and cover extra food costs when schools close for the holidays.
- $250 – Family Cheer: Support a family with groceries and gifts to brighten their holidays and relieve financial stress.
- $500 – Holiday Magic: Extend comfort and care to multiple families through your generosity, creating lasting impact and brighter holidays.
