We are proud to recognize Gabrielle LeBlanc as our second MAX Mentor of the Month. Her story is a reminder that mentorship comes in many forms and that what matters most is being consistent, genuine, and open to growing together.
When Gabrielle was matched with her Little Sister Adalyn in 2019, she was nineteen and Adalyn was six. Like many new mentors, Gabrielle wondered if she was ready. Would she have enough experience to be a positive influence? Could she really make an impact? She quickly discovered that mentorship is not about being perfect. It is about being present, building trust, and sharing life one small moment at a time.
Nearly seven years later, at 26 and 13, Gabrielle and Adalyn have built a lasting friendship rooted in laughter, encouragement, and mutual respect. They have celebrated milestones, learned from each other, and created countless memories along the way.
Some of their favourite moments include baking together, crafting, exploring new places in the community, and cheering at basketball games. Gabrielle has encouraged Adalyn’s creativity and self-expression, while also helping her discover new interests such as visiting local universities to explore what her future might look like. Whether they are at a big event or just spending time together talking and laughing, Gabrielle helps Adalyn feel seen and supported.
Gabrielle reflects on their journey with gratitude:
“We have been cheerleaders to each other for every milestone. We’ve shared laughter, learned new things, and built a bond that’s deeply rooted in friendship, trust, and admiration. Being her Big Sister has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.”
Adalyn shares that same warmth:
“Gabby has always been there for me. We’ve done so many fun things like going to the park, baking, or just hanging out and talking. I can trust her, laugh with her, and I always feel better after seeing her. She’s helped me believe in myself. She’s not just my Big Sister, she’s one of my best friends.”
Their connection extends beyond the match. Adalyn’s mom, Shelley, shared how naturally Gabrielle has become part of their family:
“They’ve been together for what feels like forever. Adalyn gained a big sister, and we gained a little one. I love Gabby like she’s my own, and she’s part of our family, always.”
Gabrielle’s approach to mentoring is quiet, steady, and deeply thoughtful. She understands that the impact of mentorship is built through the small things — regular check-ins, shared experiences, and a willingness to try new things together. She shows that being a mentor is not about being the loudest or the most experienced person in the room. It is about showing up with heart.
Gabrielle’s story reminds us that there is no single way to be a mentor. Every match is unique, every connection looks a little different, and that is what makes each story so meaningful.
Inspired by Gabrielle’s story? You can be that person too. Become a mentor today and start a journey that will change two lives forever.
